Get on the estimator’s list before the package goes out.

In construction the hard part is not winning the tender. It is finding out about the package after it has been priced by the three subcontractors the estimator always calls. We watch contract awards, planning determinations and estimator hiring every day, and pitch on your behalf in the six to twelve weeks between a head contractor winning the job and the packages going out.

Crews laying reinforcement on a building site

One problem, one window, one person.

The award is public weeks before the packages are. The estimator or contracts administrator building the subcontract list is named on LinkedIn. That gap is where we work, and it is the difference between pricing a job and being asked to.

The problem

1. You hear about it when it is priced

Head contractors run the same short list of subcontractors for every package. If you are not on it, you find out when the hoarding goes up. Our job is to get you on the list before it closes.

The opportunity

2. $242 billion, five years

The public infrastructure pipeline alone is $242 billion to 2029, with the regions doing the growing. The Hunter, Riverina, New England, Sunshine Coast, Mackay and Toowoomba are all forecast to more than double.

The window

3. Six to twelve weeks

Between a head contractor being awarded a project and the subcontract packages being let. That is when we put your business in front of the people building the list.

What we look for

4. Awards, approvals, hiring

Contract awards on AusTender and state portals, development approvals and planning determinations, and job ads for estimators and contracts administrators.

Is this you?

Subcontractors and specialist contractors who price packages for head contractors and tier two builders. If most of this reads like your business, this page is written for you. If it does not, the market size check says so in two minutes.

Who gives out the work

The estimator, contracts administrator or project manager inside the builder who lets your package.

Deal shape

Packages from $50,000 to several million, let six to twelve weeks after the head contract is awarded.

Where

Australia wide, including the Hunter, Illawarra, Riverina, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Mackay, where the pipeline more than doubles.

Not a fit

Residential builders selling to homeowners, tier one head contractors, and anyone already on the preferred list of every builder they want.

A few of the signs we watch for in construction

A few of the signs we track. The full list, and what we do with each one, stays with our clients.

Contract awards and preferred contractor announcements
A head contractor announcing a win is the start of the clock. The subcontract list starts forming soon after.
Development approvals and planning determinations
An approval names the developer, the site and often the builder. It is the earliest public moment in the life of a project, and a year ahead of the packages.
Estimator and contracts administrator job ads
A builder hiring estimators is a builder about to let packages. The ad is one of the clearest signs in the industry, and the new hire is building a list from scratch.

Nothing hidden, in your name.

Every builder, estimator and project we approach lives in a shared tracker with the award or approval beside it, the exact message sent, and where it sits.

Six to twelve weeksFrom the award to the packages being let

A subcontractor with a full order book is still six weeks from an empty one.

The pipeline is the biggest in the country’s history and the workforce is 300,000 people short by mid 2027. The builders will let the packages. The only question is whether they let them to you, and we are your business’s biggest advocate in that room.

The questions that come up on nearly every first call, answered the same way we answer them on the call.

We get all our work from referrals. Is this for us?
That is exactly who this is for. Word of mouth comes in waves, and you can’t choose when. We find more of the same kind of client, so the quiet months get smaller.
We tried cold email and it did not work.
Mass email doesn’t work. A bought list, a generic message, sent at the wrong time and dropped after one or two tries. We write to one named person about something real happening in their business, and we follow up long after a busy owner would have stopped.
What do we have to provide?
Sign off on the wording once at the start, a thirty minute catch up each week, and your time for the meetings. We set up the outreach email, the tracker and the list.
I don’t want to sound spammy.
Neither do we. You approve every word before anything is sent, nobody on your do not contact list is ever approached, and we never say anything about your business you can’t stand behind. Every email is business to business, with an easy way to opt out, in line with the Spam Act 2003.
